WORK INTEGRATED LEARNING (WIL):

Majuba TVET College has established a dedicated Work-Integrated Learning Unit which is situated at the Newcastle Training Centre, 2 HJ Van Eck Drive, BarryHertzog Park, Newcastle.

Work Integrated learning (WIL) is the term given to educational activities that integrate academic learning of a discipline with its practical application in the workplace. The aim is to ensure that students develop the ability to integrate their learning through a combination of academic and work-related activities. Work integrated learning (WIL) aims to strategically inspire students to embrace prospective future careers, thereby contributing to economic innovation and growth.

WIL OBJECTIVES

The main objective of the Work-Integrated Learning unit is to:

– Collaborate with Business and Industry to identify opportunities to expose our students to the   world-of-work in their specific vocational areas;

– Place our students in work-integrated-learning opportunities, in order to assist our students to become employable.

– Increase the number of students successfully entering the labour market upon completion of training.

MAJUBA TVET GRADUATES ARE PLACED AT SOME OF THE FOLLOWING COMPANIES

WORKPLACE-BASED EXPOSURE (WBE):

The College collaborates with SSACI (Swiss South African Cooperation Initiative) to place our students in Business or Industry, during their recess period (holiday period) for 5 – 10 days. Host-Companies are required to assess our students and complete logbooks for such students.

JOB READINESS PROGRAMMES:

Exit-level NCV Level 4 and N6 graduates are exposed to soft skills, namely:

  • Interview Skills;
  • Office Etiquette;
  • CV Writing Skills; and• Computer Skills.
