Meet One of Our OPU Strudents

The province Free State is situated on a succession of flat grassy plains sprinkled with pastureland, resting on a general elevation of 3,800 feet only broken by the occasional hill. Within this province lies the maize farming town Bothaville locally known as South Africa’s breadbasket which is where the driven Mohau Lancelort Mabuya stems from.

The persevering 25 year old made his way to Madadeni, Kwa-Zulu Natal a while back in search of an open opportunity for accomplishing his dreams. Mohau is currently completing a 1 year Learnership in Cabinet and Furniture Making with the Occupational Programmes Unit. During his spare time he enjoys a good workout, listening to music and a good read.

“At Majuba TVET College I enjoy the conducive environment, meeting different people but most all  I love what I am currently learning with woodwork. To me my hands are like tools that need to be used, and furniture making allows me to push the boundaries with them and be as creative as possible”, added Mohau.

The young handyman’s future goals are to further his studies in woodwork and later open his own successful business which will help others to learn about this trade and at the same time to create employment opportunities for others.
