Safety in Society
Introduction :
Majuba FET College will offer more exciting, modern and relevant programmes, one of which will be Safety in Society. This new approach in further education and training (grade 10-12/NQF level 2 - 4), emphasizes high skills, high quality and high knowledge. It responds directly to the cornerstones of orderly society
Duration:
1 year each level.
Entry Requirements:
Grade 9
Approved Bridging Programme
NQF level 1 or RP
What about the subjects:
In order to obtain a National Certificate in Safety in Society, a student is required to take a total of 7 subjects. These include 3 fundamental subjects and 4 vocational subjects, of which 3 are compulsory and 1 is optional.
Fundamentals Subjects:
Language
Maths or Maths Literacy
Life Orientation
Vocational Subjects:
Introduction to Governance
Introduction to Law
Principles of Criminal Justice
Introduction to Policing Practices OR Criminology
Vocational subjects change on NQF Levels 3 – 4.

A learner who wishes to further his/her studies will also be able to move into higher education, providing that the learner enrolled for mathematics and not ,mathematic literacy
Career Opportunities:
After completing the National Certificate (NQF level 2/Grade 10) in Safety in Society, the learner can continue his career/study direction until NQF level 4 (Grade 12) and then enter Higher Education. Learners will have access to careers in the following sectors:
Law
Policing
Security Officer
Criminal Investigation Officers
Start Neighbourhood-Watch Agencies
Security Agencies
Community Policing Forum
The Importance of Safty in Society in a Socio-Economic South African Enviroment:
A career in Safety in Society is one of the most relevant careers to follow since crime is a social problem in our burdened society. If it is not counteracted it has severe consequences for the sustained development of our economy.
