Introduction :

Majuba FET College will offer exciting, modern and relevant programs, one of which will be in Civil Engineering & Building Construction. The approach will be to emphasize high skills, high knowledge and high quality.
This programs will respond more than ever to the needs of the modern economy and will progress from NQF Level 2 to 4 (Grade 10 to 12). This gives learners the opportunity to specialize in a career path from grade 10.

Duration:

1 year each level.

Entry Requirements:

Grade 9 or Grade 10,11,12 ( Learners Choice) Approved Bridging Program NQF level 1 or

Advantages of this qualification:

Learners who completed the NQF level 4 in this qualification will also be more ready to move into a career or higher education, i.e. University or Technikon (NQF level 5, upwards) or relevant exposure to the real working environment.

What about the subjects:

earners enrolling for the National Certificate in Civil Engineering & Building Construction, will take the compulsory fundamental subjects (similar to schools), but with the emphasis on specialized subjects: (NQF Level 2 to 4 = 3 years

Fundamentals Subjects:

Language Maths or Maths Literacy Life Orientation

Vocational Subjects:

Drawing, setting out quantities and costing Construction Materials-Construction Plant Equipment Tiling Construction Carpentry Roadwork Construction Plumbing Thus : 7 Subjects will be offered. Vocational Subjects change on level 3 to 4.

Vocational Activities:

After completion of the NCV (NQF level 4) Civil Engineering & Building Construction, Learners can find employment in the sectors below : Participate in the operation and maintenance of construction equipment and machinery Participate in the construction of roads, bridges, dams, railways,houses, etc Take part in designing and construction of tunnels roads, factories,reservoirs, etc Participate in the erection of reinforced concrete, structural steel,timber and masonry structures, etc. A learner who wishes to further his/her studies will also be able to move into higher education, providing that the learner enrolled for mathematics and not ,mathematic literacy
